About Us
The mission of the McHenry County
Safe Kids Chapter is to unite a diverse group of individuals and
organizations that are committed to childhood injury prevention.
Our effort will focus on utilizing a multifaceted, comprehensive
approach to prevent and reduce the number of children from birth to
adolescence who die or are impaired from unintentional injuries.
We are a part of the Illinois Safe Kids Coalition as well as the
National Safe Kids Campaign.
Activities have included training
opportunities for individuals to become certified car seat technicians,
multiple car seat checkpoints (free to the public), bike helmet sales,
coordinating bike rodeos, processing KID ID cards at health fairs and
providing speaker presentations. Safe Kids also focuses on fire
prevention safety, water safety, poisonings and gun safety.
We are a tax exempt
501 (c,3) organization, utilizing contributions to support our
activities. Participating members meet monthly to share
information and coordinate upcoming activities. New members are
always welcome.
